Effective Capacity of Maximal Ratio Combining Subject to the Fading Impairment

In wireless communication systems, the transmitted signal can be affected by various kinds of impairment such as path loss, shadowing, and fading. To combat the fading phenomenon, a diversity of combining is required at the receiver side of the wireless communication system. Among the most used combining techniques, the equal gain combined has confirmed its efficient performance and ease of building. In this letter, we have studied the effective capacity metric to evaluate the performance of the maximal ratio combining technique over Weibull fading channels. Accurate analytical expression of this capacity has been derived under both normal and high signal noise-to-ratio regimes. The effective capacity has been illustrated versus various parameters to show its behavior. The analytical results have been validated by the Monte-Carlo simulation technique and the accuracy of the finding has been proved.
