Fault-Injection Countermeasures, Deployed at Scale

This paper presents the design, calibration, and validation methodologies of Intel’s Tunable Replica Circuit (TRC), a fault-injection detection circuit implemented in the 12th and 13th generations of Intel® Core™ processors’ security engines. We also explore the TRC’s behavior under various temperature conditions to demonstrate its resilience against thermal attacks.
