The Conceptual Framework of National and Global Values on Food Security

Food security has been a maj or issue in most part of the world now and is expected to becoming more critical in the future. It is therefore each country put substantial effort in creating food security for their respective nation. With the abundant of natural resources in Indonesia it is important for all stakeholders to act in the most responsible and sustainable way. In the context of Indonesia, we believe that food security may have ties to the societies common ground or values. There are national and global values that need to be embraced more firmly by stakeholders in the food system to improve food security in Indonesia. To more effectively embrace those values, there is a need to design a training system for stakeholders in food systems that include government officials, maj or food producers and distributors, logistics players and the customers. The purpose of the paper is to propose a framework that links food security with some common ground in the societies such as social justice, sense of national unity and sustainability and how training systems can be established to support this linkage. The paper is based on a literature review. We aim to identify the factors related to national and global values and establish some propositions.
