Equipotential Design of Systems: Examples from Practicing

In larger systems, distributed electronic circuits and subsystems are used. The interconnection between all these subsystems is very crucial in a good EMC behaviour of the system. Especially, signal lines, cable trays and earth connections should all be on the same potential level. Because of the larger size of a lot of industrial systems, large antenna's may occur, being efficient radiators or receptors, even at lower frequencies. And also, difference in potential level of chassis may create larger common mode (CM) problems in these systems. In the paper, some examples from practicing will be shown and discussed as examples of good practicing, and also the related numerical values will be given.
