Use of a Statistical Gauge to Test Theoretical Simulations of the Field Distribution in over Sized Electromagnetic Cavities

Mode Stirred Reverberation Chamber (M. S. R. C.) are based on the features of over-sized electromagnetic cavities assuming that the wavelength is small compared to the dimensions of the reverberation room. In order to determine the efficiency of the available mode stirred methods, actual trend consists to use theoretical simulation of the field distribution inside the room. According to the concepts proposed by many authors, electromagnetic field distribution in overstad cavities is governed by a random process following the well known χ (or x²) distribution. The scope of this paper is to use this law in order to test two theoretical models of electromagnetic field distribution. Concerned models are the Finite Difference Time Domain (F.D.T.D.) and the Rays Tracing Approach (R. T.A.) respectively.
