CS2023 Curricula Guidelines and Computer Science Accreditation

Periodically, since 1968 [1], a model curriculum for computer science has been published. The most recent curriculum guidelines are CS2023 [2] which update the previous CS2013 guidelines [3]. CS2023 has also moved toward a discussion of professional dispositions and competencies in addition to a knowledge-based guideline. Accreditation agencies for computer science may require specific curriculum content in their accreditation criteria and consequently may need to consider criteria changes to align with the model curriculum guidelines. This paper examines the changes from CS2013 to CS2023, and considers what impact it may have on accreditation criteria in the future.
