Tightly Coupled Integration as a Strategy for Robust Navigation: Civitanavi Systems' Approach

This paper presents the Dual Frequency Dual Constellation GNSS/INS Tight Coupling (TC) architecture developed by Civitanavi Systems, as a preliminary step towards implementing an Ultra Tight Coupling (UTC) navigation system. As part of its strategic development plan, Civitanavi Systems aims to design and manufacture proprietary GNSS/INS modules at various levels of integration. After a high-level discussion of the Dual Frequency Multiple Constellation (DFMC) GNSS/INS Tight Coupling prototype, the paper discusses the results of several tests conducted both in controlled environments and real-world scenarios. These results are compared with those obtained using Loose Coupling (LC) integration, highlighting the superior performance of the TC solution.
