Comparative Study for a Shunt Active Power Filter Using Multilevels Inverter with DSOGI-PLL

This paper presents a comparative study between Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) based on a Neutral Clamped Diode (NPC) three levels and NPC five levels inverter using Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) Dual Second Order Generalized Integrator phase locked loop (DSOGI - PLL) under unbalanced and distorted power grid system. SRF is the identification method for harmonics current with DSOGI-PLL method used to track and synchronize with the phase and frequency of the harmonics currents and recreate them as reference using the NPC three levels inverter and the NPC five levels inverter. This study allows also confirming the effectiveness of the DSOGI - PLL under non ideal conditions for the grid. The DC supply of the multilevel inverters is controlled and regulated by a PI controller. The following simulation using the interface MATLAB/SIMULINK and SimPowerSystem toolbox, confirms the success of the method by calculating the THD and comparing it to the IEEE standard.
