Topology for Transmitting Low-Level Signals from Ground Level to Antenna Excitation Position in Hybrid EMP Simulators

This paper describes a technique for driving the antenna feed above the ground in a hybrid EMP simulator from a low-level source on the ground surface. The signal is transmitted by a high-quality coaxial cable which is made part of the antenna by passing the cable through resistive-loaded chokes. This makes the cable- shield exterior effectively resistively loaded for exterior scattering purposes over a wide band of frequencies of interest.
