Improved EMI Test Instruments and Techniques

The paper deals with improvements in the field of EMI measurements. It shows how test results can be made more accurate for any type of RFI (i.e. CW or pulse) and how test time can be reduced without loss of information as far as the electromagnetic emission of the EUT is concerned. The improvements are achieved by more complete and more accurate calibration of the test equipment, by continuous overload checking of the EMI test receiver and by special time-saving test procedures. These ideas are implemented as hardware and firmware in a new line of test receivers. Practical results of the improvements concerned are presented.
