EMP Coupling Assessment of a Warship with a CW Simulator Used for Large Systems

This paper describes a CW experiment performed on a warship to study EMP coupling. Informations are given about the simulator developped, which can sweep the spectrum from 1 MHz to 500 MHz. The different antennae and amplifiers used for the emission (on the earth) are described as the sensors and spectrum analyzers (on board). The signal assessment necessary to go back to time domain results is described, some points (minimum phase) are discussed. Some examples of signals are given, compared with scale model results and discussed. The conclusion shows the advantages and disavantages of such a simulator.
