Proposed Revisions to MIL-STD-461/2/3 and Associated Rationale

A Tri-Service Working Group consisting of representatives from the U.S. Army, Air Force, and Navy plus the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) representing industry, is in the process of revising MIL-STD-461/2/3. This is a meticulous process consuming many hours of committee meetings as well as a number of research and development efforts. To date, only the general requirement parts of MIL- STD-461 and 462 have been drafted, with emphasis now being placed on test methods. This paper summarizes the significant changes that are proposed in the drafts. However, these changes have not been approved by the participating government agencies and are subject to further change.
