Advancement in Optical Communication: Performance Comparision between Laser and LED Technologies

Visible Light Communication [VLC] has been a prominent area of research for years now. While LEDs have traditionally been employed for both illumination and communication, the following research focuses on the potential advantages of lasers in terms of signal strength, data transmission rates, and overall success in underwater environments. The analysis investigates the use of laser technology in optical underwater communication systems, presenting a comparative study against conventional LED-based Li-Fi systems. The study involves the design and testing of small-scale prototypes, alongside detailed simulations, to evaluate the performance of both light sources under varying aquatic conditions. The results are analyzed to determine the feasibility of large-scale implementation. The findings of this study propose an innovative approach to underwater communication, advancing the understanding mechanism of laser technology which can enhance Li-Fi systems for broader applications
