Advanced Toxic Gas Monitoring and Health Protection System for Sewage Tanks

This project Mainly focuses on the design of a toxic gas detection and monitoring system to be implemented for improving safety conditions for sewage workers. The workers in sewage systems are exposed to very dangerous gases like carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and methane gas in the air, which creates serious health risks that might lead to illness or even death. In this proposed solution, MQ-2, MQ-5, and MQ-7 gas sensors shall be used to detect the concentration of these gases. An analogue signal will be generated by the gas sensor, which is then calibrated and further scaled in parts per million with their characteristic curves provided by the makers of these respective sensors. This data shall be then processed by an Arduino microcontroller and displayed continuously for the levels of the aforementioned gases. If the concentration of excess gas for any gas exceeds the threshold value, the system triggers an alarm to alert the observers to the danger. After processing, the ESP32 wirelessly sends the data to a cloud server, and the data may be monitored from anywhere in the world; necessary actions are taken on time in case hazardous conditions occur. The portable, low-cost, real-time monitoring system shall be integrated into this project so that workers working inside the sewage tanks may be warned in time against hazardous levels of gases in order to avert accidents or health problems.
