Lock-Up Clutch Adaptation for Automatic Transmissions

This study includes functionality, working principle and actuation of lock-up clutch. Additionally, it investigates parameters that adversely affect clutch performance. To overcome the negative effects of these parameters, a dynamic adaptation method is developed. Some of system parameters are manipulated and adaptation on clutch for unexpected conditions are performed. This method ensures that target pressure profile is always tracked for different conditions. Any deviation between target and actual is observed by combining plant model and adaptation function in simulation environment. Results verify applicability of the approach.
