Threshold Vector Field Detectors: A Formulation for EMC Applications

In most applications of Statistical Communication Theory (SCT) to problems of interest in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) studies, the (vector) noise and signal fields in question have been analyzed in terms of their dominent scalar component. Although such a procedure is often adequate, it is incomplete and less sensitive. This is because the contributions of other, correlated components, and the full physical model are neglected. These features can be potentially exploited further to enhance signal extraction, reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) effects, and identify fully the critical elements of the EMC problem in question.
