Single Phase Prepaid Energy Meter using GSM Module and Arduino Uno

Traditional billing and payment systems for energy are often marred by inefficiencies, delays, and susceptibility to human error. This paper presents a novel solution to these challenges through the implementation of a prepaid energy meter system utilizing a GSM Module and Arduino Uno. The proposed system not only facilitates prepayment but also provides real-time status updates on energy consumption and remaining balance, thereby enhancing user convenience and financial control. Additionally, the system incorporates a telescopic tariff rate to better reflect varying consumption levels. By demonstrating practical applications and benefits, this work contributes to improving revenue collection, reducing energy theft, and offering a more efficient and user-friendly approach to energy management in developing countries where such systems are becoming increasingly prevalent.
