Performance Analysis of the Conductor Grip Based on Multibody System Dynamics

The Conductor grip is a crucial fitting in the construction of transmission lines, particularly during the tensioning and hanging phases. This study conducts a theoretical analysis of the mechanical performance of the Conductor grip-conductor system during tensioning operations. The calculation formulas for the clamping force and pull-pressure ratio exerted by the grip jaws on the conductor are derived. A refined rigid-flexible coupling multibody system model of the grip and conductor system is established, and the performance of the grip is analyzed through simulation. Compared to theoretical calculations, the flexible characteristics of the conductor reduce the clamping force and pull-pressure ratio by $\mathbf{2 . 6 2 \%}$ under the same pulling force applied to the ring. Furthermore, the simulation experiments reveal that as the angle between the pull ring guide groove and the conductor increases, the clamping force and pull-pressure ratio decrease. These results provide scientific guidance for the design, structural optimization, and construction operations of grips.
