1972 IEEE Semiconductor Laser Conference

This issue of the IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics contains papers presented at the 1972 IEEE Semiconductor Laser Conference, plus other papers on semiconductor lasers. The purpose of this special issue is to bring together current semiconductor laser papers in a convenient volume. The two previous special issues on this topic (April 1968 and June 1970) have been of great help to workers in the field by providing convenient references on almost all the device aspects of semiconductor lasers. The 1972 IEEE Semiconductor Laser Conference was held on May 15-17 in Boston, Mass. The Conference was attended by 66 specialists from the US and abroad.
