Analysis of Battery Consumption over VoNR Service and High Data Transfer on Mobile Devices Using Cross-Slot Scheduling Feature

This study investigates the impact of cross-slot scheduling on battery consumption in mobile devices during Voice over New Radio (VoNR) calls and throughput scenarios. Utilizing advanced testing equipment, we measured current consumption over time by varying the parameters k0 and k2 to introduce different delays between the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) and the Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH). Our results demonstrate that introducing this delay can significantly reduce battery consumption, but increasing the delay beyond a specific point yields diminishing returns. This analysis underscores the need to balance delay and battery savings, enhancing the cross-slot scheduling feature introduced in 3GPP Release 16.
