Design of Bionic Deployable Wing Based on the Hindwing of Asian Ladybird

About the developing of Flapping-Wing Micro Robots (FWMRs), the intricate deployable hindwings of beetles present a practical template for innovation. In this paper, the Asian ladybird is selected as the bio-inspired object. The movement of the Asian ladybird during its take-off and landing is captured by high-speed camera to obtain the folding and unfolding mode of its hindwings. Building on these observations, a novel bio-inspired deployable wing configuration for FWMRs is conceptualized. The proposed design undergoes a rigorous evaluation of its mechanical motions and aerodynamic attributes through simulation. This study aims to provide a substantive technical foundation for the design of FWMRs deployable wings.
