Correction Method for SVG Loss Measurement Considering the Influence of Transformer Angular Difference

Since the power factor angle is distributed around ±90° during SVG operation, the angular difference of the transformer has a significant impact on the SVG loss measurement. A power factor angular kernel density estimation-based correction technique for SVG loss measurement is presented as a solution to this issue. The method models the probability distribution using kernel density estimation by screening the base wave power factor angle of SVG inductive and capacitive specific power intervals. Based on the power factor angle corresponding to the time when the probability density is maximized, the angular difference of the transformer is calculated and compensated, thus improving the accuracy of the SVG loss measurement. Finally, the validity of the proposed method is verified through simulations as well as field cases. The results show that the proposed method can accurately correct the fixed phase angle error introduced by the transformer, and thus improve the accuracy of SVG intrinsic loss measurement.
