Coordinated Power Control Architecture for Parallel Matrix Converters

This article first proposes an isolated grid-connected multi-port energy router based on parallel matrix converters. In the future power system, energy routers for comprehensive management of multiple renewable energy will gradually shift from non-isolated to isolated system which is able to achieve electrical isolation and higher safety for energy sources like lithium batteries and hydrogen production systems. Isolation type multi-port converters are gradually moving towards modularity and compatibility with multiple converters, such as matrix converters with integrated AC/DC characteristics. On the basis of proposed novel multi-port converter, its corresponding coordinated control strategy featuring reasonably utilizing the three control variables to simplify the whole modulation algorithm is developed in this paper. The novel regulation scheme can achieve the coordinated regulation of three modules which can achieve different control goals of highly sinusoidal grid current, stable load voltage, and lifetime improvement.
