Exploring Safety Management Approaches for Construction Sites Using Smart Devices

Despite the strengthened enforcement of the ‘SERIOUS ACCIDENTS PUNISHMENT ACT’ aimed at enhancing penalties for safety incidents in recent domestic construction sites, there has been a stagnation in reducing major accidents. Consequently, there is a shift towards establishing a safety management system centered on risk assessment, aimed at creating a culture where individuals take responsibility for accident prevention efforts by diagnosing and improving risk factors on their own. In order to foster a sustainable safety culture, various models of Tool Box Meetings (TBM) based on risk assessments are being researched as part of the government's policy to implement a comprehensive TBM model for all workplaces. However, challenges persist in situations where hands are not free, even with the application of TBM models such as One Point Sheet (OPS). In particular, in the case of construction sites, administrative document work has increased significantly, but safety accident problems still occur. Therefore, site safety managers, etc. need smart devices and solutions that can reduce administrative document work and enable smart safety equipment and systems to interact for safety management.
