Monitoring agricultural irrigation canals with LoRa and Zabbix technology

Currently, irrigation canal systems face numerous problems that could be avoided with timely monitoring and detection. Our Internet of Things (IoT) prototype aims to monitor these irrigation lines using advanced technologies, such as LoRa (IEEE 802.15.4a), for long-distance communication and low energy consumption. Additionally, the use of the open-source monitoring system Zabbix is highlighted for reading and visualizing metrics based on the NOM-001-SEMARNAT-2021 regulation of Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (SEMARNAT).The collected data, including pH, turbidity, and temperature, will be sent in full through a Gateway. This Gateway will receive the data and transmit it via MQTT to the server in JSON format. In this way, we can detect anomalies in real-time and alert the corresponding authorities promptly.
