Design and Development of an Electro-Optical Prototype Real-Time Water Qualitative Monitoring System

This work presents the design and development of an electro-optical prototype real-time water qualitative monitoring system. This prototype is based on using a red Light-Emitting Diode (LED, wavelength of 650 nm) as the incident light and a monolithic photodiode (OPT101). The water to be analyzed is placed in a laboratory test tube between the path of the emitted light and the photodiode. Depending on the type of water, the OPT110 delivers a particular voltage level. Thus, it is possible to determine qualitatively the quality of the water. Potentially, the obtained result of this proposal can be extended to the analysis of other liquids such as alcoholic drinks.
