Some Insights on the Calibration and Drift of Oceanographic Probes for Measuring Temperature and Conductivity

Routine control and calibrations performed in specialized centers are necessary to ensure the quality of data collected by oceanographic instruments. In this study, we compiled the available calibration data and certificates regarding two instruments for the measurement of temperature and conductivity of the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics property. The analysis shows that temperature probes are more stable over time, while conductivity sensors tend to drift more and thus require a higher level of care. We also present some suggestions to operate these kinds of probes.
