Exploring Performance Characteristics of Static and Dynamic CMOS Designs Using Cadence Tools

In VLSI design, trade-offs between performance factors such as speed, power, and area are common. Using Cadence technologies, this research article offers a thorough investigation of the performance variations between static and dynamic CMOS systems. It draws attention to the trade-offs between power efficiency, speed, and area, with dynamic CMOS circuits providing quicker speeds and static CMOS circuits excelling in low power usage. Using simulations in Cadence, the study examines a variety of logic circuits, such as pseudo-NMOS, ratioed circuits, and domino logic, examining their power and latency characteristics. The high power dissipation of pseudo-NMOS inverters and the lower power but higher delay of Domino Logic inverters are important discoveries that highlight the significance of selecting the appropriate logic type depending on application requirements. The study emphasizes how useful Cadence tools are for maximizing the performance of CMOS circuits and offers vital information for contemporary VLSI design.
