A Ka-band combined design high-precision calibration system for high-throughput satellite

With the development of broadband access demand, Ka-band multi-aperture multi-beam antenna is due to its high gain and high C/I ratio widely studied and applied. In order to ensure the pointing accuracy of antenna, monopulse measurement and closed-loop tracking system are usually used to calibrate. In order to optimize the system, this paper proposes a high-precision calibration system which is combined design with antenna and transponder for Ka-band multi-aperture multi-beam high- throughput satellite, the system uses a broadband feed to achieve user, feed and calibration functions, and does not require additional calibration feeds. In addition, the co-redundancy ring design with the low noise amplifier in the transponder improves system reliability and saves 2200g weight for the four-aperture multi-beam antenna satellite. The system has been applied to a high- throughput satellite. After in-orbit test, the antenna pointing accuracy is better than 0.08° after one calibration, and better than 0.06° after multiple calibration.
