A Compact Portable Multi-sensor Hydraulic Profiling Tool

Organic pollutants can spread further through horizontal or downward infiltration, carried by flowing water, and thereby contaminate more areas. The movement of water within the soil is influenced by the soil’s hydraulic conductivity. In this study, we designed a compact portable multi-sensor hydraulic profiling detection system to estimate the soil's hydraulic conductivity. This system is well-suited for mobile applications in complex field environments and provides insight into the vertical variation of hydraulic conductivity in the soil. By doing so, it enables the prediction of pollutant diffusion behavior within the soil, allowing for early intervention and control measures. This proactive approach has significant implications for the prevention and mitigation of soil pollution.
