Integrating Eye-Tracking in Games: Enhancing Player Experience and Understanding Social Gaze Issues

In recent years, innovations in interactive technology have significantly enhanced the design processes and user experiences of serious games, and their thematic expression has also evolved. However, existing research in serious games still faces limitations in deeply integrating game themes with player experiences. This study proposes an innovative design approach, centered on thematic expression, to shape player behavior. By employing eye-tracking technology, it aims to deepen players' understanding of the societal issue of the 'social gaze,' breaking through existing limitations in player experience and conveying perspectives on social issues, thereby influencing players' attitudes and viewpoints through gameplay. The main contributions of this study include: developing a prototype of a serious game based on eye-tracking technology, evaluating the practical effects of eye-tracking technology in enhancing game interactivity and responding to social issues, conducting a systematic analysis of the impact of the 'social gaze' theme on players within serious games, exploring how game design can effectively be used to raise social awareness and instigate behavioral change. This research aims to provide a fresh perspective on the design of serious games while enhancing their functionality in reflecting and expressing social issues.
