From Individual to Collective: An Interface for Thermal Comfort Management in Smart Buildings

In order to harmonize the collective thermal comfort of occupants of public indoor spaces in smart buildings to improve their quality of life and productivity, this paper proposes an interface for smart building environments that allows users to submit thermal comfort feedback via a web application. This interface aims to tackle the challenges that smart buildings face in managing comfort in public indoor spaces where people move inside the buildings frequently. Such as the high mobility of users in smart campuses, thereby improving user engagement and satisfaction. Based on the models known for human thermal comfort, the designed user interface collects user feedback and adjusts the thermal comfort for a group of people there. The intuitive user interface design also ensures transparency and openness in the system’s balancing decision-making process and user trust in the decisions.
