Enhanced Cooling Strategy for Electric Vehicle Drive Motors: An Approach to Liquid Cooling Pipe Structure Optimisation

Effectively designing the heat dissipation method and mode for an electric vehicle's drive motor is crucial for its stability, safety, and overall performance. This project aims to optimize the liquid cooling system in electric vehicle drive motors to address their low heat dissipation efficiency. This paper examines the heat dissipation performance of air-cooled and liquid-cooled models based on available data, and evaluates the heat dissipation mechanism of the drive motor. The structure of the permanent magnet synchronous motor's liquid cooling waterway was optimized using FLUENT software to ameliorate both flow rate and wall pressure. The optimal cooling performance was achieved by simulating and analyzing the temperature and other data, revealing that altering the pipe diameter width was effective. By enhancing motor cooling in this project, electric vehicle manufacturers will gain significant theoretical and practical advantages.
