Study of SDR-Based Direction Finder Threshold Sensitivity Depending on Signal-To-Noise Ratio

The paper presents the effect of a radio direction finding system based on software-defined radio. The implemented software and hardware system investigates the stability of bearing calculation for searching for radio emission at different levels of signal/noise ratio. The obtained results show stable determination of bearing levels up to 5 dB. In the process of the study, a study was conducted using a microwave generator, which acted as a source of radio emission. The obtained direction finder allows to significantly reduce the cost of the direction finding system, as well as to ensure high accuracy of determining the characteristic in the 80-degree sector. The obtained results are presented in the form of tabular results, as well as graphs of the dependence of the average measured bearing error on the signal/noise. The proposed direction finding system can be easily implemented due to the use of an open SDR system, printed antenna manufacturing, and additive manufacturing of the direction finder component.
