Parameter Estimation for a Generic Na-ion Battery Model Using The Curve Fitting Approach

This paper presents two models for a new sodiumion battery based technology, validated using dynamic driving profiles (Artemis and WLTC). Initially, a simplified model with only a series resistor is presented. Although this model closely followed the experimental curve, it failed to capture the system’s high dynamics. Then, an enhanced model with a parallel RC circuit is presented. This addition significantly improved the model’s ability to capture the dynamic behavior of the battery under varying current inputs, closely matching the experimental data. The parameters for the models were determined with curve fitting using Matlab’s optimization toolbox. The comparative analysis revealed that while the simplified series resistor model provided a basic approximation, the RC model offered superior accuracy, particularly in scenarios involving rapid current changes.
