Application of User Experience Method to Determine User Requirements in Remote Patient Monitoring Systems: Systematic Literature Review

Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) Systems are an increasingly popular approach in the healthcare industry that allows monitoring and managing a patient's health condition remotely. This study aims to investigate the use of user experience (UX) methods in determining user needs in the development of RPM systems. The research method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The SLR process was carried out in compliance with PRISMA guidelines to ensure methodological acceptability and quality of the research process. The results of the SLR carried out in this study identified 28 relevant articles for further analysis. From this analysis, it was found that Indonesia is the country that has adopted the most UX methods, User Centered Design is the most widely adopted method, the mobile platform is the basis for most RPM systems, and ten main features to meet remote patient user requirements monitoring. Discussion regarding findings from RPM research shows widespread adoption of UX methods in the development of RPM systems in Indonesia, the United States, and Germany. UX methods such as User-Centered Design and Design Thinking are essential to ensure the system meets user needs and preferences. Mobile platforms are the most used because of their flexibility. Important features include Authentication, Online Doctor Consultation, and Health Monitoring. Future studies that integrate user experience with RPM can improve the quality of RPM services.
