Parameterisation of the Impact Caused by a ‘Salt Tower’ on the Electromagnetic Landscape

This concerns an experiment to evaluate the hypothesis that “salt towers” (i.e. an outdoor installation developed to produce mineral-rich water droplets in the air that are regarded as having beneficial health effects similar to that of breathing in sea air) may change the local electromagnetic landscape created through the use of public mobile radio-communication base stations networks, i.e. its impact on humans and technical objects. Multi-band measurements of electromagnetic radiation were performed inside and outside a salt tower, to monitor the frequency and spatial pattern of radiation emitted from surrounding base stations. The results were evaluated using various statistical procedures in the context of specific and complex needs that visitors to parks near medical facilities, where salt towers may be frequently found, may have. The results revealed that the level of the electromagnetic exposure and the range of its division were several times lower inside the salt tower, but that its relative time and spatial distribution increased. This confirmed the hypothesis that salt towers may contribute to the control of electromagnetic interference in electronic devices and human exposure, indicating the justification for broader studies near such objects.
