Solar Photovoltaic Interactive and Portable Kit to Develop Solar Energy Skills

The Laboratory for Innovation in High Voltage and Renewable Energy (LIATER) of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia developed a photovoltaic interactive and portable kit to advance the understanding and adoption of photovoltaic (PV) technologies for community energy development. It is an educational project that seeks to encourage and promote the use and exploitation of photovoltaic solar energy in a pedagogical environment, aiming to empower communities by fostering awareness and utilization of solar energy for social and economic development. This paper presents the experience of LIATER developing portable kits which are focused in teaching engineering concepts for children, youth and adults. It shows the development of new teaching methodologies and the importance of generating new bets to promote and facilitate practical experimentation in the adoption of PV system concepts. In addition, the experiences of the communities with the “Caja Solar” are analyzed, validating its potential impact on promoting sustainable energy practices within communities.
