Digital Settings of Low Voltage Circuit Breakers

The digital communications networks owned by most electricity companies have undergone remarkable changes. Currently, there are various communication solutions on the market, among the most common are wired and wireless technology. Both technologies are found in applications of electric utility companies, such as the automation of distribution networks, but there is a current concern to digitize these processes. The paper briefly presents the importance of electrical equipment for the protection of installations. Further, some modern features of low-voltage circuit breakers are highlighted. Digital communication networks have different shapes and particularities depending on the application of each equipment. In the final part of the work, the realization of an experimental stand that presents the possibilities of digital communication of low-voltage circuit breakers in a compact version is detailed, as well as specifications of the new generation of low-voltage circuit breakers found in industrial applications. Further, the paper aims to highlight whether the proper functioning of the switch can be affected by its digital parameterization through communication networks.
