Research on Muzzle Arc in Ultra High Speed Air Flow

The arcing phenomenon of the muzzle after the armature out of the bore restricts the development of electromagnetic launch technology. Because the physical process of the armature exiting the muzzle is complicated, it is difficult to accurately predict the arc suppression process and arc conduction characteristics of the muzzle. This article researched on the muzzle arc in ultra high speed air flow of electromagnetic launch technology. Numerical analysis of the muzzle arc has been done. Then the magnetohydrodynamic simulation shows that the relationship between muzzle arc and air flow. After that, the experimental results indicate the arc suppression device works, which means that the arc is suppressed.
