Application of the Matrix Pencil Method for Spectral Analysis in Presence of Impulse Noise in Electric Signals

The main aim of the investigation is to improve the accuracy of the analysis of harmonic electrical signals with impulse noise present by estimating the frequencies of the components and their amplitudes for the purpose of inspecting the quality of the electrical signals, including the higher harmonic estimation. Several possible methods of improvement for the matrix pencil method of digital spectral analysis for some of the typical electrical signals are under consideration. The improvement in the quality of the analysis is achieved by segmentation of the signal with overlap and subsequent estimation of the true parameters based on the parameters found separately for the segments. It is found that the weighted mean estimation with weights based on the noise power level works best overall. The obtained results can be used in the systems of intelligent control of the electrical signal quality.
