Fault-Tolerant Converter for Aircraft Application

This paper proposes a hybrid energy storage system as a possible power source for aircraft application. As a hybrid energy storage system is considered a semi-active battery-supercapacitor topology with fault-tolerant converters. The power system includes an interleaved bidirectional buck-boost converter and interleaved boost converter for two-stage voltage increase and improving reliability. Simulation results show that the system is effective at high voltage load. Simulation of fault on one switch of each converter validated that the system is operational and effective when the fault occurs.
