Design and Analysis of Anti-recoil Device for Launcher with Large Recoil Mass

Orbital launchers have a large recoil mass. In order to maintain its structural stability during the recoil process, the launch system should be uniformly stressed. Based on the characteristics of orbital launcher with large recoil mass, we designed single-cylinder integrated counter-recoils and muzzle brakes which are symmetrical arranged. We built a simple model of the launcher to analyze the force on the recoil part, establish the recoil motion equation, conduct simulation calculations on the recoil elements, and complete the simulation test and assessment of the counter-recoils and muzzle brakes on the impact test bench. We analyzed and compared the simulation data and test data of recoil elements, and the results showed that the hydro-pneumatic counter-recoils and muzzle brakes can provide effective recoil efficiency for orbital launcher with large recoil mass. However, in the application of launchers with large recoil mass, there is a problem of recoil impact in place, and it is necessary to focus on designing the recoil buffer structure.
