Wastewater Aeration process based Cloud-SCADA/PLC System

To protect public health and the environment, it is important to have effective wastewater treatment methods. Traditional methods of wastewater treatment plants require manual operation or SCADA systems are typically installed on site to control aeration during wastewater treatment. These traditional practices lack scalability and capabilities for remote monitoring and real-time optimization. This article discusses how modern cloud-based SCADA/PLC systems through Node Red software and totally integrate portal software (TIA) can transform wastewater aeration operations. Cloud-SCADA/PLC systems use the power of cloud computing to provide industrial automation with a powerful and flexible platform. Real-time data is collected from sensors placed at points such as treatment processes, dissolved oxygen (DO) levels and other aeration processes using programmable logic controllers (PLCs) located in the plant itself. This information is sent securely to a cloud-based SCADA system that allows for central monitoring control as well as data analysis via the control centers that have been designed.
