Design of Bidirectional TWDM-PON Network for High-Speed Internet Access in Industrial Zones

This research addresses the surge in global bandwidth demand triggered by digitalization, focusing on the necessity of bidirectional TWDM PON technology for highspeed internet access in industrial zones. The objective involves the design of a TWDM-PON network with an asymmetric data rate protocol, a 1:64 splitter ratio, four spectrum channels, and a minimum distance of 40 km. The proposed design follows ITUT G. 9804 standards and simulation using OptiSystem. This study evaluates downstream and upstream schemes. The integration of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier enhances downstream and upstream performance, while a semiconductor optical amplifier improves upstream results. The effects of dispersion compensation fiber on dispersion compensation are also scrutinized in this research.
