Digital Twin-Oriented Vacuum Current Breaker Model with High-Frequent and Dynamic Properties

The vacuum current breaker (VCB) is wildly used in power system, especially in levels of medium or low voltage. However, the accurate modeling method of VCB considering high-frequency transient characteristics and dynamic arc properties, which plays an important role in the field of overvoltage suppression, is still missing. This work presents a method from digital twin perspective, which first builds the logical control model based on the physical phenomena that happened during the VCB operation, then uses KEMA functions to establish the arc resistance model with particle swarm optimization for parameter identification. Combining the logical control segment with the arc resistance segment, the entire model can describe the high-frequency transient characteristics and dynamic arc properties. And finally discuss two aspects for improvements and applications of the VCB digital twin model.
