A Study on Smart Homes Vulnerabilities

As more households adopt IoT devices—readily available online and easy to set up—the security of smart homes has emerged as a pressing concern. This study investigates the risks associated with Wi-Fi related IoT use cases. These include susceptibility to hacking due to weak encryption, lack of software updates, data interception, sending false alarms, and other potential design and implementation weaknesses. By analyzing these vulnerabilities in-depth, this paper compares various solutions with the goal of identifying the most robust approach to mitigate these risks, ensuring a secure and safe smart home environment.
