Experimental Study of the Stability of an Automated Optical Tower Measurement System

Optical observation towers used for high-speed detection of targets are influenced by factors such as electromagnetism, wind, and sand. The optical detection output is inconsistent (unstable) with large measurement deviation errors. In view of the above problems, this article proposes a landscape measurement system with high-speed photography capability using an automatic lift tower equipped with a small photoelectric latitude and longitude instrument, which can realize the approximation measurement of the target within the range of 50 m altitude, and the stability of the system in the face of the extreme environment can be realized. Stability verification experiments under different wind speeds were actively conducted in the field, yielding measurement accuracy and error analysis of the photoelectric measurement system at the top of a 50 m tower. The maximum absolute measurement accuracy under six-level wind conditions did not exceed 0.44 m. This further effectively validated the stability of the measurement capability when the optical equipment is used in combination with an automatic lifting tower. The feasibility of the tower-carried automated optical view measurement system at 50 m altitude was further explored after analyzing the influence of the swaying amount on the view measurement capability.
