Econometric Modeling of Corporate Profits in the United States of America

The main aim of the presented article is to develop an econometric model to forecast the financial performance of US companies. To achieve the stated goal, the Gretl software product was used in this research. Gretl is designed to obtain estimates of the model coefficients using various statistical methods. We used the ordinary least squares method. As a result of the research, the value of corporate profits and liability levels were found to be dependent on GDP, wages, industrial output, and consumption expenditures. Identifying the dependence the corporate profit allowed us to make conclusions, namely: the growth of US GDP and consumption leads to an increase in the profit of American corporations, while an increase in industrial production, on the contrary, leads to a decrease in profit. This also allowed us to predict changes in corporate profit depending on changes in macroeconomic indicators.
