Approaching Heterogenous Target Groups in E-Learning: Evaluation of a Healthcare IT Course

Effective knowledge transfer, not only to healthcare professionals and patients, but also to the general public respectively citizens, is essential for the successful digitalization of the healthcare system. To address this, we developed and evaluated e-learning courses for the general public. Our approach involved tailored didactic methods and a 5-phase model for course structure. The courses covered topics such as sensor technology, data management and interoperability. The initial evaluation results indicated positive outcomes in terms of participant engagement and satisfaction. However, recruiting participants beyond students posed a challenge. To broaden recruitment channels, we plan implementing strategies such as improving our web presence and outreach efforts. Based on our findings, we propose continuous refinement of course content, promotion of group interaction, and collaboration with multipliers to improve recruitment. These insights contribute to enhancing digital health literacy among diverse stakeholders.
